Virginia & Ioan contacted me AGES ago about doing their engagement photos in their neighborhood – Washington Heights. Unfortunately that was put on hold because of COVID-19, but I’m SO pumped to be out and photographing couples again!
For their session, V&I wanted to go to some of the favorite neighborhood parks, both with views of the George Washington Bridge! We went to a local park on their street and Fort Tryon Park in Inwood, which I have got to say, is the most beautiful park in all of New York City. The gardens are gorgeous, there is so much greenery surrounding the gorgeous walking paths and beautiful classic architecture, and you have an incredible view of the Hudson River. I honestly don’t think Fort Tryon Park gets enough recognition as a gorgeous engagement session location!
We started early at 7am for this summer engagement session, and any later wouldn’t have been as good! Early mornings (I even prefer starting at sunrise) give us the best light and the fewest people out for New York City engagement sessions. It’s so much easier to get photos without people in the background when we shoot in the morning! I know it’s a tough wake up call, but it’s worth it I promise.
Scroll to see the MAGIC these two brought to their session – they were so at ease with each other and the entire session was full of Virginia’s effortless laughs and Ioan’s sweet gestures taking care of her. They met salsa dancing, which got me SO excited because I met my husband dancing too! Since dance is important to them, we made sure to get lots of dancing photos. I am so happy I got to spend the morning with these two, and can’t wait to go salsa dancing with them when the city opens up!
